Over here at Sidewalk Radio we do love Atlanta, but 106 degrees…are you kidding us?! We can’t change the weather, but we can tell you how these outta control temperatures have inspired art…and MARTA.

I think Saturday and Sunday just blew my mind! I had to do some work outside… I think it was a near death experience! Fascinating to think that my grandmothers’ South Carolina houses both lacked air conditioning when I was a kid. They both had huge attic fans, of course, but I don’t see how folks survived temps like this for long runs. I guess sleeping porches were a necessity. Actually, I have heard the advent of electricity and then particularly A/C really opened up the South as viable to live in comfort, and really then is when we began to flourish in re-locating population and development.
